WIP, Sengoku Astray 1

So i'm a little jet lagged and waking up at 3 in the morning. Decided to get working on the Astray.  I wanted to work with the upper body first. painting the heads, torso, arms. Like previously mentioned I wanted a metallic scheme for the astray. actually since last post, I searched Google for metallic astray red frame and here is the result. Credit to Gundam Guys

This was pretty much what I wanted. Obviously mine won't be to such quality.

I'm preping the parts for easy removal by trimming the pegs and enlarging the holes. My pin vise hasn't arrived, so i'm using a round file to enlarge the hole.

Actually the v fins needed a little trimming to get on to the head.

Before and after Priming. I'm using Vallejo Grey Primer. This primer doesn't need to be thin down with anything but I just add a couple of drops of alcohol to the cup.

Here's the comparison between the original red on the runner and the metallic red I painted. I'm quite happy with the result. I didn't use metallic red colour, rather a layer of tamiya titanium silver and red clear coat.

And here is the head assembled.

I used the titanium silver for the face and back half of the head and vallejo silver for the front half.

HGBF 1/144 Sengoku Astray

So my first build will be the Custom Astray from Gundam Build Fighter. I know it's a shows for kids, but i'm kinda enjoying all the cameo and references. Also this astray is kinda cool.Actually in this series, Bandai did a much better job than the Gunpla builder designs. Although i'm skeptical about the star build system.

Back to this kit. I plan on painting it. but i'm not gonna deviate too much from the original colour. Just melee and red frame goes so well together. I contemplated changing it to green, gold or purple frame but doesn't seem right. and blue is reserved for Gai's blue frame only. However I will gives it a metallic look. titanium red seems to be the the thing right now with the sinaju and sazabi kits. For the armor, will probably be shades of silver and white.

I like looking through the coloured bits of the manual. This one actually have tips and inspiration for the gunpla. you can see a carboard box, I use for storing different Magic the gathering cards and storage for sub components so i can prepare for painting.

The Begining

Hi, I'm Pehshimaro. I'm starting a blog about building gunpla. I first build SD gunplas when i was 9-10 years old. I haven't really build any for the past 10 years But I've been following pretty much every TV shows and manga that I can get my hands on since I can't read Japanese.

I used to be content with just snapping the kit together and using stickers and that will  be it as far as my interest in gunpla goes. Well that changed once Sunrise and Bandai release Gundam build fighter as a mainstream anime. So i guess kudos to their marketing department. Not to mention, the release of Remastered Seed + SD and Gundam Unicorn and others gundam anime in full HD. It really bring out the mecha details.
I'm not that new to modelling but it had been a while. I used to collect/play Warhammer. Both 40k and fantasy. Dark elves, Chaos Tzeentch, Necron, Thousand Sons.

Now I'm at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA. Mechanical Engineering Major. And this is my set up.

Left to right: Spray booth, Cutting mat, paints and primers, vallejo, mr hobby, tamiya, Gundam markers and fine liners, clippers, hobby knife and files.

As you can see I've a few gunpla under the table. Build booster  Mk 1 and Mk2, Gundam Age Razor kit, HGUC Delta kai, HGUC Doven wolf Unicorn, HGUC Stark Jegan, System base 001. And on the table is the HGBF Sengoku Astray that I'll start working on.

I've more supplies and models coming in the post and will blog them as they arrive.

I'll sign off with my collection from Thailand
